The official photo of Lindsay Lohan and Grant Bowler as Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton in the new film “Liz & Dick” has been released and it’s already causing quite a stir.

Several photos of the troubled actress in costume for the role have been circulated around the internet, with many fans and critics saying Lohan doesn’t resemble the late Taylor.

But the official photo certainly looks more compelling and the resemblance can be seen much clearer than the behind the scenes shots. Sure, the black and white photo was taken at an angle and has clearly been retouched, but the final product definitely looks like the role is more plausible than Lohan’s critics have suggested.

Lindsay Lohan looks different than she did six weeks ago.

The photo on top was taken on Tuesday outside 30 Rock in New York City where Lohan is rehearsing for her guest hosting stint on ‘Saturday Night Live.’ The one on the bottom was taken in a Los Angeles courtroom (her home away from home) on January 17.

Lohan also stopped by the Today Show to tape an interview with Matt Lauer, set to air Thursday, where she told the talk show host she is “clean and sober” and described herself as a “homebody.”

A source close to ‘SNL’ told Fox411 one of the skits being considered features Lohan playing GOP candidate New Gingrich’s wife Callista Gingrich.

We will definitely be tuning in for this one. (Because even if Lohan crashes and burns, Jack White is the musical guest!)

Hugh Hefner and Playboy are saying their Lindsay Lohan’s Playboy issue, which hit newsstands on December 15, is selling out across the country. But Fox411 reported over the weekend that retailers we talked to in New York City weren’t having such luck with the issue. We snapped this pic Tuesday morning at Reagan International airport’s Heritage Booksellers where a clerk identified as London told us he had worked in four of the airport’s stores over the past few days, had seen only a total of six sold, and said the racks were still full. “I expected it to sell better,” London said. The issue was rushed to newsstands after it was leaked online by a Russian hacker, who told Fox411 he does it all the time.

Lindsay Lohan was wearing a little bit more on the beach in Hawaii this weekend than she’s wearing in the January/February issue of Playboy that got leaked on Friday.

Lohan was photographed enjoying the surf and sand on Saturday, the day her purse got stolen and $10,000 in cash was removed from it before it was returned.

(Some reports say she got the cash for posing for paparazzi shoots, like maybe this one.)

Regardless, Lohan didn’t look too upset that her nude spread for Playboy had been released ahead of schedule by a Russian hacker who found the entire January/February issue circulating on peer-to-peer sites unauthorized before its official release, pieced it together page by page, and released it on the site Worldmags.net.

Lohan, 25, meanwhile, is due back in court in Los Angeles on Wednesday for a probation hearing.
